DIB’s team checked a number of options, but there was a problem, these devices could not have been integrated with their
existing system. This means, the idea to have a single layered model was still not possible.
Then in GITEX 2014, DIB’s team was introduced with Wacom’s signature devices.
Wipaq Technology LLC, sole distributor of Wacom in Middle East, was offering it. So the DIB’s management team discussed their
requirements with the Wipaq Technology LLC. Wipaq Technology suggested DTU-1031electronic device to DIB’s team, for signing and filling forms. Along with the device SDK was also offered, with help of which, DIB’s developers integrated the devices with their existing system.
After the project was put into action, the customers of DIB got extremely delighted as is it allowed them get done with their transactions in just a minute or two. Apart from customer satisfaction, this project has rewarded DIB in a number of ways:
• Operational time per transaction reduced dramatically to just one or two minutes.
• Digitalization and a single layered system, reduced waiting time in queue.
• DIB saved immensely, on cost related to processing and archiving paper.
• DIB also had an immense saving on operational costs.
• All signed documents are digitally archived and are available immediately.
• Growing piles of papers, stored for record keeping, eliminated.
• Employees can now find, read and check the documents much quicker, having an instant access to the information, from both the reception and the back end office.
• Customers can read terms and conditions, present in certain transactions, on the screen.
• Also, as the customers could read on screen, while the form is being filled, it validates the transparency of transactions.
• And even when the screen is not in use, DIB can use it for displaying promotional messages, without having a need to spend on the production of
POS materials.
• Availability of SDK ensures that DIB’s developers could modify it with the changing needs, as and when required.
Dubai Islamic Bank’s paperless “Smart Bank Experience” is now available across 65 % of their
branches, i.e. approximately 85 branches, 800 tellers and with an option of nearly 150 types of
transactions. DIB’s CEO, Dr. Adnan Chilwan has revolutionized the banking procedures in DIB by
introducing a system that allows his customer to sign electronically and also enables them to monitor
their transactions instantly on Wacom’s digital signature pad. Today Dubai Islamic Bank has marked
his success with the introduction of this smart bank technology.
